Cobalt Man ($5.80) resumed his winning ways at Rideau Carleton Raceway following a brief layoff while trotting mare Majestic Kat ($14.40) took on the boys in Sunday night's co-featured Preferred Handicaps.

Scratched sick from his last start on June 24, Cobalt Man picked up where he left off the week prior and won for the fifth time in his last six starts in the $8,250 Preferred Handicap Pace for trainer/driver Guy Gagnon. The popular 10-year-old Rocknroll Hanover-Lady Indigo gelding took command after the :27.4 opening quarter and cruised through middle splits of :57.3 and 1:25.3 en route to victory in 1:54.2. The win was his ninth this year and 47th lifetime. Print Media finished one length back in second and just ahead of the race's first leader, Wildcat Cam. Cobalt Man is owned by Ecuries Guy Gagnon Inc., Gestion Louis Latulippe Inc., and Gestion Bruno Blouin Inc.

Majestic Kat rallied three-wide off cover past the third quarter mark and held off fellow late-closer Pasadena Star by a head to win the $8,550 Preferred Handicap Trot in 1:57.1 for the father-son, trainer-driver team of Mark and Clarke Steacy. The four-year-old Majestic Son-Order By Matilda mare, who boasts a perfect three-for-three Rideau record, is owned by David McDonald, Stephen Klunowski and A K Malik Stable. Early leader Unabating finished three-quarters of a length back in third.
