Layton Seelster, Alexie Mattosie and Medoland Glenno find themselves sharing the top spot in the Grassroots point standings for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings thanks in part to their winning efforts at Woodstock Raceway on Tuesday

.

All three colts were victorious in the first event of the season at Dresden Raceway on June 21, and each of them managed to double up at Woodstock Raceway, which featured nine divisions in total, on Tuesday evening.

Layton Seelster front-stepped to a 1:57.1 score in his $24,000 assignment for the duo of driver Brad Forward and trainer Bob McIntosh. The gelded son of Western Maverick-Daylon Luxury parked to the quarter pole in :28.1 before clearing and laying down middle splits of :57.4 and 1:28. He fired home in :29.1 to defeat Premium Bliss and Roberto.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, Layton Seelster improved his 2009 record to 3-2-1 in eight starts. Despite being unraced as a rookie, the pacer has stashed away more than $35,000 to date for the partnership of the Robert McIntosh Stables Inc. of Windsor and Dwight Stacey of Mitchell, ON.

Despite being parked every step of the mile, Alexie Mattosie eked out a narrow victory in his $24,000 division for the team of driver Phil Hudon and trainer Matt Dupuis. The son of No Pan Intended-Dame Crombie won by a quarter of a length over pacesetter Regil King in a time of 1:57.4. Silver Sunset rounded out the top three.

Hardy Mill Stable of Beaver Bank and GLB Stable of Lakeview, NS share ownership on the gelding, who has constructed a flashy record of 4-2-0 in just eight starts this year. His earnings climbed to $34,270 with the win.

Joining Alexie Mattosie and Layton Seelster at the 100-point plateau in the standings is Medoland Glenno, who turned a two-hole trip into a career-best clocking of 1:56.4 for driver Anthony Haughan and trainer Meg Crone. A 30-second final frame was more than enough for the gelded son of Western Maverick-Jodie Lynne Tup to post the victory over pacesetter Uncle Bill Mac. Little Man rounded out the top three.

Ruairi McNulty of Puslinch, ON holds the papers on Medoland Glenno, who owns a 2-2-1 record in seven starts this year. He has banked more than $30,000 in 2009, and more than $77,000 to date.

The other divisional winners on Tuesday were Lexis Star (1:56.3), Village Bistro (1:57.2), St Lads He Man (1:56.3), Mild Mannered (1:56), Western Heart (1:57.4) and St Lads Adonis (1:58).

The next stop for the three-year-old pacing colts and geldings on the OSS Grassroots trail is Clinton Raceway on August 2.
