Pouliot Enjoys Big Night At Rideau

Stephane Pouliot was the leading horseman of Sunday night's harness racing card at Rideau Carleton as he won five of the 12 races, including the top pacing class with his own trainee Poppys Bucky Boy.

In fact, Pouliot's stable had a perfect night as all three of his Sunday starters were victorious. Poppys Bucky Boy ($8.80) went from last to first in the sixth race feature, a winners over $25,000 lifetime event with a purse of $6,500, winning in 1:55 for Pouliot and co-owner Meadowgem Farm. Pouliot won the following race with the streaking Marty Tyme ($5.80), another pacer he trains for owners Roberge Labine and Henri Carriere, and later captured the 11th dash with his own trotter Guard Dog.

Pouliot also won the opener with Robert Bernicky's Click Boom ($10.80) and the third race with Luc Loyer's Rockin Rambaran ($3). The win for Rockin Rambaran was his 13th of the season, giving him the most wins for a male horse this year in all of North America. Pacing mare Diamond Tiara is the overall leader with 16 wins in 2014.

Pouliot's stable is now just two wins away from matching his 26 wins in 2013, which marked a career year for the Ottawa horseman. Pouliot has driven 52 winners this year and is among the top three reinsmen in the Rideau standings.
