First-time sulky sitters Roy Sproxton and Jeff Oborne were all smiles as they returned to the winner’s circle following their respective exhibition races on July 6

at Grand River Raceway.

The racing enthusiasts were part of the Standardbred Xtreme Adult Harness Racing Camp at the Elora, ON track. A group of eight campers spent the weekend learning the basics of harness racing through classroom study, guest presentations, field-trips and hands-on learning.

The camp is presented in cooperation with the Ontario Harness Horse Association (OHHA). Horsepower is provided by four retired Standardbreds from the Ontario Harness Racing Youth Camp.

Grand River Raceway would like to thank the following individuals for their assistance in presenting the camp: Darryl MacArthur, Brian Tropea, Liz Waples, Nicole Schnurr, Nick Boyd, Bruce Richardson, Gayle Ecker, Gwen Croser, Kyle Reibeling, Jack Darling, Ron Waples, Don Lindsey, Paul Lindsey, Mike Wilson, Craig Walker, and Dr. Pat & Anna Meyers of Emerald Ridge Farm in Rockwood, ON.

Congratulations to all eight participants: Leah Dunbar, Roy Sproxton, Vadeo Sproxton, Gary Helmer, Ken Parsley, Scott Marrison, Jeff Oborne and David Lawrence.
