Judge Corriveau Rules On Protection

Published: July 7, 2009 04:58 pm EDT

Quebec racetrack operator Attractions Hippiques, which asked to have its creditor protection extended to July 31, has instead been given until

August 24 by Montreal Superior Court judge Chantal Corriveau.

Accommodating summer holiday schedules was one of the reasons cited for the extra time, along with the need for further clarification of the Quebec government's position of the possible sale of most of Attractions Hippiques' assets to a potential buyer.

The judge said she could convene the parties before August 24 if she doesn't receive detailed progress reports on the company's restructuring efforts prior to that date.

Attractions Hippiques has been in creditor protection since June of 2008.

Monalisa ,

answer one question please , was there a deal on the table that would have guaranteed the continuing operations of all racetracks , except montreal, with government subsidies, that the ataq fought tooth and nail to voidddddd!!!!

the question is where is there better solution, the blame is the lack of parimutual betting that is happening throughout america , the only way a track can be successful is with a subsidy ,( slot machines) that means it is deaD.

WE HAD A DEAL FOR THE TRANSITION , AND ATAQ FOUGHT IT -- GOOD FOR THEM , THEIR BETTER SOLUTION IS YET TO BE HAD .

MONIQUE FORGET HAD AGREED TO PROVIDE 9 MILL A YEAR AND THEN PULLED IT BACK. BECAUSE ONCE THE VOTERS FOUND OUT THEY WERE GIVING MONEY TO A DYING INDUSTRY ( LOOK AT THE NUMBERS) THEY NEARLY FLIPPED. SO THANK YOU ATAQ

People Wake Up !!!! Can you not see what's going on ! Stop putting the finger at your Associations whom are there just to try and protect what is rightfully ours ! We are being ripped off ! Our Government has sold us out!

Massicotte has done us in ! This is a real Scandal ! Fighting and blame in each other for everything does not help anyone!

The Government is supposed to protect us, and that includes protecting our rights ! Yet they have washed their hands of us! They made this so called Contract with Attraction Hippiques , The Contract was never followed ! Yet Attraction Hippique is allowed to do what ever they please to save themselves, and the Government , will they seem to have more important issues ! and The Horseman, well they are fighting among themselves therefore , let them Fight ! Work together ! Fight Together ! As a Team ! Its not over until its over, We all have the same agenda, and thats to save our Horse Industry !

We must not give up ! The Government must not turn its back on us ! For once we do have REASONS ! OUR RIGHTS HAVE BEEN TAKEN FROM US AND WE WANT THEM BACK ! WE HAVE PEOPLE BEHIND US ! The public can see whats going on ! and they do not find this right ! We can get them to support us , Together we can fight !

The GOVERNMENT must stand up and take their responibility ! They are the ones that sold us out !!!!! Attraction Hippiques must be stopped ! This is the Man that is destroying us !!!! WAKE UP !!!!!!!!

Blame ATAQ,

There was a deal in place with the government, but they were dreaming in color, and now this is what we get, they should be embarrased,

we already lost aylmer and others will follow, they think they have a great industry even though its only chance of survival is massive subsidies from other forms of gambling ( ie slots)

dying a slow death

Christa... Don't you recall this is the judge who's husband(a lawyer, is payed by Attractions Hippiques"). But not to worry she did say she has no conflict of interest!!

Is this a joke? Who can afford to take a summer holiday,as we haven't raced yet! We have been waiting for over a year now. How long are they going to drag this out. All I can say is if I ever decide to declare bankruptcy I will request this judge, so I too can drag it out, screw everyone, but still collect money... How do you sleep at night knowing what you have done to so many people...Or do you even care?
