Returning to his Nova Scotia home base after competing in the Cecil Ladner Pacing Series in Charlottetown, P.E.I., Likely To Win was victorious in the top pacing class at Truro Raceway on Sunday afternoon for driver Ryan Ellis and trainer Adam Merner.

Likely To Win wore down early leader Andro Madi near the three-quarters mark in Truro's featured $1,275 Winners Over and drew clear for the two and a quarter length victory in 1:56.2. Push Back finished second and Sf Razamatazz was third.

The four-year-old Western Terror gelding now boasts back-to-back victories having won the Ladner consolation on June 21 and is six-for-11 on the year. He is owned by Blenise Young of Long Point, N.S., along with Lester Campbell and James Gillis, both of Judique, N.S.

Ellis swept the late Daily Double with Likely To Win and Justwitchway to close out a four-win driving performance on the day. He also won with Ina Bind and Merner trainee P L Faststrike.
