Leber Anticipating Georgian Saturday

When the two-year-old pacing colts arrive at Georgian Downs on Saturday, July 6 for their second Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots event, Pefferlaw resident Georg Leber will have three opportunities to have his picture taken.

Leber’s first hopeful is Intended Royalty, who will start from Post 7 in Race 5. The son of No Pan Intended failed to hit the top five from an outside post in the June 27 Grassroots season opener at Mohawk Racetrack, so Leber will be looking for a change in the gelding’s luck Saturday.

The second colt who will carry Leber’s ICR Racing banner is Major Homer, who was a narrowly-beaten second in the season opener and will make his bid for another top-three finish from Post 4 in Race 9. The son of Major In Art and Bad Due Day will face a serious challenge from Grassroots winner Cheeky Fool from Post 1.

Completing the ICR Racing trio is Companion, who finished fourth in his Grassroots debut. Another son of No Pan Intended, Companion will start from Post 8 in Race 10.

Kenneth Oliver of Hamilton conditions the ICR Racing trio and hands the lines over to driver Brad Forward of Cambridge on race day.

The two-year-old pacing colts will compete in Races 2, 5, 6, 7, 9, 10 and 11 on the Saturday evening program at Georgian Downs. The Innisfil oval’s first race will roll in behind the starting gate at 7:25 pm.
