It didn’t come as much of a surprise that trainer Dave Menary sent out the winner in Monday’s second leg of the Dream Maker Series at Mohawk Racetrack, but to some it was mildly surprising that it was Dragon Time upsetting stablemate Trump That in the $14,000 tilt.

Trump That, who came up a nose short to Summer Travel in last week’s opening leg of the series, was sent off as the 1-5 choice in the five-horse affair. He was treated to a pocket trip behind Webmaster Hanover who carved out fractions of :27, :55.3 and 1:24.2. Trump That angled out of the pocket coming off the final turn, but he couldn’t fend off the late pressure from Dragon Time. That gelding sprinted home in :27.3 to post the half-length decision over Trump That, with Brackley Beach taking home third prize.

Dragon Time, a son of Bettors Delight-Little Miss Dragon who was a $50,000 purchase from last year’s Lexington Select Yearling Sale, now boasts a 2-1-1 record from four starts. The career winner of $19,180 is owned by Menary Racing Inc, Michael Guerriero, Larry Menary and Alan Alber.
