Papi Rob Hanover Scratched From Adios

The complexity of the field for Saturday's $375,000 Delvin Miller Adios and this year's three-year-old pacing colt division has changed dramatically with the injury to world champion pacer Papi Rob Hanover.

On Tuesday (July 28) the field was drawn for the 2020 Adios, and Papi Rob Hanover was requested out to due injury, according to Meadows' announcer Jeff Zidek.

Trot Insider has confirmed that Papi Rob Hanover has been sidelined indefinitely with a coffin bone stress fracture. The son of Somebeachsomewhere - Panera Hanover, owned by David McDuffee of Delray Beach, Fl. and trained by Brett Pelling, established a new world record of 1:47.1 in his Adios elimination.

With Papi Rob Hanover out, attention turned to Catch The Fire and The Greek Freak, the other elimination winners, who got to select their post positions. The connections of Catch The Fire, after winning the draw for selection order, chose Post 3, while The Greek Freak's camp opted for Post 4. Papi Rob Hanover's withdrawal opened a spot for Captain Barbossa, who drew in as the fourth-place finisher with the highest career earnings.

The Adios, which has been carded as Race 15, carries an approximate post time of 4:02 p.m. The Adios anchors a powerhouse card that also features the $107,320 Quinton Patterson Adioo Volo for three-year-old filly pacers, a $59,088 Arden Downs stakes division for freshman colt and gelding pacers, and a $35,690 Arden Downs split for two-year-old filly pacers. Other highlights will include a pair of stakes for three-year-old filly trotters: a $187,182 leg of the Pennsylvania Sires Stakes, and an $80,000 PA Stallion Series event. The card will get underway with a special post time of 11:25 a.m.

Trainers Tony Alagna and Ron Burke each will be represented by three horses in the Adios.
