Forward On Canadian Drivers Showcase

Horseman Scott Forward has spoken with Trot Insider regarding the Canadian Drivers Showcase which took place Sunday, July 26 at St. John's Racing and Entertainment Centre in Newfoundland

"Other than the weather, the event was fabulous," said Forward, who said that even though conditions weren't ideal, all in attendance had a tremendous time. "The drivers were absolutely fantastic. They were professionals on track and extremely personable to everyone that was in attendance."

Drivers Scott Coulter, Brad Forward, Guy Gagnon, Jody Jamieson, Luc Ouellette, Todd Trites and Mike Whelan all took part in the event, which was highly anticipated in the local area.

A harness racing youth camp took place at the track the day before, which was followed by an adult camp/owners seminar later in the evening.

Forward said that despite the rain which came down on Sunday, the crowd was good, with virtually all of the kids that attended to youth camp coming back to watch the races Sunday. "It was a very relaxing day for everyone that came out," he said.

"The drivers brought about two full suitcases full of shirts, goggles and all sorts of stuff that they were giving out," Forward explained. "In total they must have given out a couple hundred items."

Forward explained to Trot Insider that he has been in contact with the drivers since the event and all are very enthusiastic to attending the event again next year.

After the drivers got cleaned up after the races, they came back and attended a barbecue at the track and continued to mingle with local horsemen and fans.
