Forever Paradise held off the late-charging All Turain to win the $2,200 Preferred Pace in a close finish for driver Mike McGuigan and his father on Saturday (July 23) at Charlottetown Driving Park.

Forever Paradise and Mike McGuigan had led the field of five through fractions of :28.3, :58.1 and 1:27 before All Turain and Leonard (Barney) McGuigan nearly caught them at the wire in 1:55.4. All Turain closed off a three-hole trip to edge out his pocket-pulling stablemate Doing Some Damage and Brian MacPhee just a half-length behind the winner.

Kevin MacLean trains the six-year-old Western Paradise gelding Forever Paradise while Trevor Hickens campaigns All Turain and Doing Some Damage. The winner is owned by Islanders Reginald MacPherson, David Mackenzie and Aaron Mackenzie.

Forever Paradise notched his fifth victory from 12 starts this year and 43rd lifetime.
