PASS Hat Trick For Bold And Fresh

Even an early break of stride couldn’t stop Bold And Fresh from her third consecutive Pennsylvania Sire Stakes win on Wednesday night at Pocono Downs

.

There were three divisions of the stakes races held at Pocono for three-year-old trotting fillies, and each division carried a purse of $66,846.

Bold And Fresh had racked up Sire Stakes wins at The Meadows and Chester in her previous two starts, but seemed doomed after breaking shortly after leaving the gate. Driver Ron Pierce managed to get her to catch stride before she lost touch with the field. The filly from the Doug Miller barn had to come from sixth after the break, but she closed past everyone in the stretch to win by a half-length in 1:54:2. Backstreet Hanover rallied for second while MMs Lioness grabbed third.

In the night’s first division, Decolletage won a grueling stretch battle to capture a win in 1:56:4. Mike Lachance did the driving for trainer Fred Grant, as Decolletage managed her first win of the year by a neck over Dont Blink. Cutie Pie finished third.

Caitrin Hall pulled off the night’s biggest upset in Sire Stakes action, winning her split at 21-1 in 1:54. The filly, with David Miller aboard for trainer Tony Alagna, pounced from the pocket to surprise favoured pacesetter Cedar Dove in the final strides. Lyrical Lady picked up the show.
