Isabella Hanover Romps In Open Trot

Adam Merner mapped out a pretty, two-hole trip for Isabella Hanover in Thursday’s $1,950 Open Trot at the Charlottetown Driving Park, and the mare parlayed the trip into a facile score for trainer Stephen Gass.

Isabella Hanover dropped into the garden spot and chased Holy Molie Maggie through early fractions of :29.4, :59.4 and 1:29.4. Merner got his charge revved up late, and the veteran used a :29.1 closing quarter to prevail by 3-3/4 lengths over Professor Gordon in 1:59.1. Fading to finish third was Holy Molie Maggie.

Sent off as the 9-5 second choice in the wagering, the seven-year-old daughter of Yankee Glide-Imposing Hanover notched her fourth win of the year for owners Kent Livingston and Wade MacDonald. The 15-time winner bumped her lifetime earnings to $124,334 with the win.
