Tompkins-Geers Galore At Tioga

Carbon Footprint began to chunk away into the return on investment for his $190,000 yearling price tag on Sunday afternoon at Tioga Downs in a $31,870 division of the Tompkins-Geers for two-year old colt trotters

Jim Morrill Jr. sent the two-year old son of Credit Winner-Lookout Victory to the front past the three eighth’s pole and trotted through fractions of :59.4 and 1:29.2 before going home a winner in 1:59.2. It was the first win of the career for Carbon Footprint who is trained by Erv Miller and the mile of 1:59.2 was the fastest split in the three divisions for freshman trotting colts. Crazy Reminder finished second, while Carnegie got up for show.

In the other two splits for two-year old trotting colts Woody Marvel (Jim Morrill Jr.) and RC Serpent dead-heated for the win in 2:00.3, while Matthew Effect (Jeff Gregory) utilized a two hole trip to win in 2:00.

Shibboleth Hanover pulled off the major upset in the second division for three-year old colt and gelding trotters by knocking off Judge Joe. Jeff Gregory got a two-hole trip behind DR Ackerman and Judge Joe who had been unbeaten in five starts on the season. The duo rolled through fractions of :28.3, :59 and 1:28.2 before the battle raged at the top of the stretch with Shibboleth Hanover defeating Judge Joe by a nose in 1:56.3.

It was the second win in seven seasonal starts for the son of SJs Caviar-SOS Fire Fly, who is trained by Clarence Martin, Jr. for Maple Ridge Stable and Mary Martin of Pennsylvania. The mile of 1:56.3 established a new lifetime mark for Shibboleth Hanover who increased his seasonal earnings to more than $37,000 with the victory.

In the other division for three-year old colt trotters Tip The Tide and trainer/driver Howard Okusko, Jr. rolled on the front to score in 1:57.4 for Purple Haze Stables LLC of Fairport, NY.

The three-year old pacing fillies were also co-featured on the afternoon’s twelve-race card, with Mcgibson capturing the $33,403 second division in 1:53. Stephane Bouchard wasted no time getting Mcgibson to the front and pacing through fractions of :27.2, :57.2 and 1:24.4 before sprinting away from the field with a final panel of 28.1.

Linda Toscano trains the daughter of Mcardle-Armbro Althea for Camelot Stable, Bays Stable LLC and William Jacobowitz. It was the seventh win in twelve seasonal starts for Mcgibson, and with the victory increased her seasonal bankroll to more than $159,000.

In the other split for three-year old pacing fillies Jim Morrill, Jr. steered Shanghai Lil to victory in 1:54 for trainer Pete Foley who does the conditioning for All Star Racing Inc. of New Jersey.
