New Leader Atop Hambletonian Rankings

After having dominated the ‘Road To The Hambletonian’ ranks thus far in 2018, Wolfgang has been forced to make way for a new leader.

The Ake Svandstedt-trained and driven Six Pack has now taken over the No. 1 spot in the rankings, courtesy of his 1:50 world record performance from this past Saturday night at the Meadowlands Racetrack.

After a Post 8 start in his $181,000 Stanley Dancer division, the three-year-old son of Muscle Mass sat just off the speed in third. He began his first-up ascent to the lead just before the :54.4 half and was ultra-sharp the rest of the way. He spun off three quarters in 1:22.3 and whizzed home in :27.2 for the scintillating victory.

“He’s a tough horse,” Svanstedt said afterward. “I had a lot of power coming into the last eighth. I hope he can be sound for three more weeks [for the Hambletonian].”

Wolfgang now occupies the second spot in the rankings, while You Know You Do rounds out the top three.
