Intended Royalty Reigns At Inverness

After narrowly holding sway for a pillar-to-post win over the strong Doubleshotascotch in last week's top pace, Randy and Edward Copley's Intended Royalty ($3.20) made much easier work of his rivals in Sunday afternoon's (July 15) $1,150 winners-over pacing feature at Inverness Raceway.

Redmond Doucet sent the seven-year-old No Pan Intended gelding to his customary position on the lead, and after being tracked by Makes Me Stupid (Andrew MacLean) through early splits of :29.3 and :58.4, they opened up at will early in the second circuit. Intended Royalty amassed an 8-1/4 length lead at the end of a 1:57.2 mile, using a :28.4 closing split to outpace Makes Me Stupid. Macnamarra (Brett LeBlanc) made a mild bid to take third, another 2-1/4 lengths behind.

Randy Copley handles the training duties of Intended Royalty, who has won seven of his nine races to date this season.
