Grand River Raceway will kick off two action-packed weeks of stakes action this Friday, July 19 with seven Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots divisions for the three-year-old trotting colts.

The three-year-old trotting colt contest is the first of three OSS events the Elora oval will host in the coming weeks, culminating with another Grassroots event on the track’s popular Industry Day program. The August 5 Industry Day event will also feature the Battle of Waterloo and Battle of the Belles for the province’s top two-year-old pacers.

Arthur, Ont. resident Wayne Henry will send three colts into the fray on Friday, kicking things off with Charlie Muscle in Race 5. The son of Muscle Mass will start from Post 5 in the $12,857 contest, which will also feature two colts ranked among the top five; Lime Strike (Post 1) and Tag Up And Go (Post 3). Shelley Henry of Arthur shares ownership of Charlie Muscle with the Estate of Daniel McCann of Parkhill, Ont. and Murray Brethour of Sunderland, Ont.

Random Dynasty is next off the gate for trainer-driver Henry, and the pair will be aiming for a top finish from Post 2 in the eighth race. The Ken Warkentin gelding will be looking to redeem himself after making an error in the July 1 Grassroots event at Clinton Raceway. The Henry Stable, the Estate of Daniel McCann and Jeffrey Thomson of Chesley, Ont. share ownership of Random Dynasty.

Change The Future and Henry will wrap things up from Post 5 in the tenth race, and will also be looking for a bit of redemption. Leading the field at the head of the Clinton Raceway stretch, Change The Future made a break and had to settle for second in his July 1 division. The Duke Of York son is owned by Shelley Henry.

The three-year-old trotting colts will raise the curtain on Grand River Raceway’s July 19 program at 7:05 p.m. and will also be featured in Races 2, 4, 5, 7, 8, and 10.
