Nanticoke Racing and Jim Morand’s Tough Challenger ($2.80, Morand) broke his own track record Wednesday in the $18,600 Open Trot at Harrington Raceway

with a 1:55.3 victory.

The four-year-old You Betcha stallion battled pacesetter Nordic Venture first over throughout the last quarter mile and prevailed by a head. Nordic Venture was a game second, while Allmar Surprise finished third.

Trained by Les Givens, ‘Challenger’ had previously set the four-year-old track record for trotting stallions on April 27 with a 1:56.1 triumph.

Driver Ross Wolfenden had five winners on the program. Morand and Kirby each had a double.
