It was recently announced that a deal which would have seen Scarborough Downs sold has fallen through.
As a report by WCSH6 explains, a tentative deal to sell the track and its surrounding property had been reached in March, but it recently fell through.
"The track has not been sold. The track is still for sale," track spokesman Mike Sweeney told WCSH6. "We’re hopeful somebody will step up, buy the property for development with the idea of keeping harness racing as part of that development, but there is currently no purchase and sale agreement in place.
"There were people who were interested. That contract has expired."
Sweeney did state that there is still interest in the Maine raceway.
"I understand there still is some interest,” he said, “but there is nothing firmed up on that whatsoever."
