Earl Joseph celebrated his first training win in over 10 years as Peeling Out ($21.90) romped to a seven and a half length upset victory in Kawartha Downs' seventh race trot on Saturday night (June 24).

Rob Doyle drove the seven-year-old trotting mare to the wire-to-wire win in 1:59.2 over favourites Most Wanted Lindy and L H Sonofthetimes. Nancy Grimble owns the daughter of Angus Hall who notched her first win of the year from nine starts.

Prior to taking over the training of Peeling Out this year, Joseph had made just one pari-mutuel start in 2008 and the Newcastle, Ont. horseman last won a race with the pacing mare Yuste on March 8, 2007 at Kawartha. Saturday's win was the eighth lifetime for both Joseph and Peeling Out.

Driver Steve Hudon made his first appearance since the track’s opening night last month a worthwhile one with three wins on the nine-race card.

Racing returns to the Fraserville oval next Saturday night with free programs and hat & t-shirt giveaways throughout the night in honour of Canada Day and the 250th Anniversary of horse racing in this country. Post time is 7 p.m.
