The 2013 season was a record-setting season for trainer Carmen Auciello on a personal level, and by the looks of it he’s well on his way to smashing his personal records again this season.

The Stouffville, Ontario-based horseman has already racked up 97 wins this year, with three of those victories taken during Saturday’s 11-race card at Mohawk Racetrack.

Mr Big Head, who is now 3-for-3 since being claimed, got the ball rolling for Auciello thanks to his 1:51.3 score in Race 3. Anthony MacDonald mapped out the winning trip for the suddenly-streaking son of Real Desire. That trainer/driver tandem then clicked with Hopiesdragninthedo in Race 10. The Dragon Again homebred was a front-stepping winner in 1:52.

Phil Hudon tripped out the Auciello-trained Donau in the finale, and the son of American Ideal converted off the trip and posted a 1:51 score to give his trainer the hat trick.

Auciello post 120 victories last year while watching his earnings top $2.1 million. He’s already watched his barn bank close to $1.4 million as we approach the mid-way point of the season. To date, he’s sent out 425 winners while garnering purses in excess of $5.7 million.
