A pocket ride was converted to a visit to the winner’s circle in the Thursday night feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

Adam Merner engineered the winning trip as the longest shot on the board for owners Blenise Young and Lester Campbell of Nova Scotia and Jeffrey Campbell of Alberta.

The Melissa Rennie-trained Likely To Win sat the pocket as Jeb (Jason Hughes) laid down fractions of :29.1, :58.3 and 1:27.4 before Merner used the passing lane to secure the 1:56.3 win at 10-1 by three-quarters of a length over Oh To Be (Gary Chappell) with Elm Grove Kaboom (Earl Smith) third, and Jeb finishing fourth.

Osprey Impact captured the Open trot in 1:59.3 for driver Walter Cheverie and owner-trainer Paul Larrabee of Belle River. Morosita Bi (Hughes) cut the fractions and finished second but was placed to seventh for interference on Freddie (Marc Campbell) early in the mile. Holy Molie Maggie (Chappell) was placed to second with Suicide Shift (Steven Shepherd) placed up the third spot.

Mark Bradley scored a driving double on the card winning with his own trainee, Shesaroyalcowgirl, in 1:57.3 and Tipsy Mcstaggers in 2:03.1 for trainer Jay Noye of Pleasant Valley. Trainer Jackie Matheson had a pair of winners with Selkirk Sapphire (Gordie Hennessey) winning in 2:02.2 and Perfect Escape (Gilles Barrieau) a 1:58.3 victor.

Live racing continues at Red Shores Charlottetown Saturday night at 6 p.m. with the Maritime Breeder’s Finals for three-year-old pacers while the Summerside Raceway has a 1 p.m. Sunday post time for an action packed card including the Atlantic Aged Mares Pacing Series.
