Trot Insider has spoken with John Campbell about his upcoming induction into Canada's Sports Hall

of Fame.

"It wasn't something that I was expecting -- I was surprised," Campbell told Trot Insider. "I got a call from a lady at the Hall of Fame and she informed me about the upcoming induction a day or two beforehand."

Campbell told Trot Insider that the induction comes as quite an honour, one which has been growing on him more and more as time goes by.

"It just took some time for me to really grasp the extent of it," he said. "When you're a kid you dream of a lot of things, but I don't think many kids dream of being inducted into their country's sports hall of fame."

Campbell will join kayaker Caroline Brunet, hockey greats Mark Messier and Angela James and ex-CFL and NFL quarterback Warren Moon. Ex-CFL player, coach and team general manager Hugh Campbell, along with CIS coach Ken Shields, will be inducted into the Hall's builder category. The gala induction dinner will take place November 3, 2009 in Toronto.

"With the class that I am going in with, I feel both privileged and humbled. It's going to be quite an experience," Campbell said.

In a special two-part interview, host Norm Borg will talk to Campbell about his sweetest victories, his thoughts on the industry, a candid Q & A and more on Trot Radio, with the first of two episodes airing this Friday.
