His Boy Elroy earned his second straight win besting Surrealist once again in Truro Raceway's top $1,575 Winners Over pacing class on Sunday (May 28) while two-year-old Sportswriter colt P H Hippie triumphed in his first career start during the afternoon program.

Ernie Laffin catch-drove the five-year-old His Boy Elroy for trainer Bernard McCallum and set fractions of :29.3, :59.4 and 1:29.2 en route to a 1:57.4 one and a half length victory over the wide-rallying Surrealist and Paul Langille. His Boy Elroy returned $9.70 as the 7-2 second choice to the favoured 11-year-old Surrealist, who was the North American co-leader with 19 wins in 2016 and has been runner-up in his first four starts of the meet.

His Boy Elroy is perfect in two starts this year and notched his 13th win overall. The son of Jeremes Jet is owned by Dan MacRae of Baddeck, N.S.

P H Hippie was Truro's first two-year-old race winner of the year, scoring in 2:00.3 by a neck over sophomore filly Only One Star and Langille. Todd Trites drove the son of Sportswriter out of Miracle Luck for trainer Dr. Trevin Shive and owner Dr. James Shive of Rines Creek, N.S.
