It was a good night for the gals during Monday’s card of harness racing at The Raceway at Western Fair District, with Just One Day and Random Majority reigning supreme in their respective assignments versus Preferred company.

Just One Day clicked for Team Holliday in the $7,350 Preferred 3. The eight-year-old daughter of Earl-Just One Night rallied to win by three-quarters of a length over Heres The Magic in 1:59.3. Scottish Cross, who set most of the speed, faded late and finished third.

Sent off at odds of 11-1, Just One Day scored the win for driver Ryan Holliday, trainer Dave Holliday and owner/breeder Graham Jackson of Listowel, Ontario. It was the mare’s fourth win of the year – and the 39th lifetime – and the lion’s share of loot lifted her bankroll to $264,061.

Random Majority blew away the foes she faced in the $7,000 Preferred 3. Trevor Henry put the pedal to the metal with the Richard Moreau pupil who threw down fractions of :29, :59.1 and 1:28.1 before kicking home in :29.2 to win by six lengths over Chewey in 1:57.3. Race favourite Quiet Snow was third.

Keith Cassell owns the four-year-old daughter of Duke Of York-Shipps Treasure, who found her way to the winner’s circle for the fifth time this season. The 15-time winner has banked $86,486 to date.
