Sophomores Streak In Maryland Stakes

Driver Roger Plante won three races on the live harness racing card on Wednesday night (May 24) at Rosecroft Raceway in addition to steering Holy Trout to victory in a non-wagering Maryland Sire Stakes event.

The Steve LeBlanc-trained Holy Trout won a $6,500 Sire Stakes preliminary division for three-year-old trotting fillies in 1:58.2. Owned and bred by Dr. William Solomon, the Holy Guacamolie filly is undefeated in four sophomore starts.

Plante swept the Daily Double with the Judy Welty-trained Dunn Dealin and Cousin Brucie the Trevor Stafford stable. He also won with Zoeez Boy Henry for conditioner Mike Hall.

Mr Ham Sandwich and driver Russell Foster won another non-wagering Sire Stakes division for three-year-old male pacers in 1:53.2. Trained by Welty, Brian Emerson's homebred Cams Rocket colt earned his third straight victory.

Ricky Still took the featured $8,500 Winners Over Trot with Fashion Smile in 1:55.1 for trainer Bib Roberts and owner William DeLodovico.

Joe Offut also had a training double.
