Wins came early and they came often for driver Aaron Byron on Tuesday at Kawartha Downs, with his end-of-the-day total climbing to five

.

Byron, who is one win away from 500 lifetime scores, pulled off a 30-1 upset in the opener with Mays First Deal (1:59). He rattled off three straight wins starting in Race 7 with the Anthony Montini-trained Firethorn (1:54). Mikes Bid (1:55.2) and Raiders Finale (1:56.4) were part of the natural hat-trick, and more importantly they helped pushed his daily win total to four.

He added one more triumph to bring his win haul to five thanks to a gate-to-wire triumph with Wildcats Bear (1:55) in the finale on the 11-race program.

The Cambridge, Ontario sulky-sitter is just $171 shy of hitting $4 million in career earnings.
