It has been reported that the City of Vaughan will reassess its position on the topic of casino expansion next week.

A report by the Toronto Star has cited Vaughan Mayor Maurizio Bevilacqua as saying that Vaughan City Council will discuss a staff report on the issue on Tuesday, May 28.

The article has also cited Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion as saying that she is willing to listen to how the citizens of Mississauga feel about the casino expansion issue.

According to a report by the CBC, Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti has said that when it comes to the casino expansion issue, "The ball is in OLG’s court at this moment," adding, "I think we really need to hear from them."

The three municipalities are close neighbours to Woodbine Racetrack, which would see its customer base cannibalized if full-fledged casinos are to be erected within its general vicinity.
