Records are made to be broken, or, in the case of Chick N Tell, matched

.

Chick N Tell (Stephane Bouchard) turned in the fastest local trotting mile of the season Friday night, winning Yonkers Raceway's co-featured $44,000 Open Handicap in a zippy 1:55.3.

That effort matched the number in the clubhouse previously set by Armbro Barrister and Ray Schnittker. Ironically, it was that same duo--"Barrister" and Schnittker--which Chick N Tell N Bouchard picked off in deep stretch.

Armbro Barrister, bumping back up to the big boys in a search of a third consecutive win, rolled though fractions of :28, 57.3 and 1:26.1. Rushmore Hanover (Brent Holland) tired in the pocket, while 4-5 choice Batalj Launcher (Jason Bartlett) was spinning his wheels first-up.

Chick N Tell, leaving from post position No. 5, was sitting second-over behind a dull favourite. Meanwhile, Armbro Barrister slapped three lengths on his six foes (outside assignee American Lane was a judges' scratch) turning for home.

It took a :28.3 final quarter by Chick N Tell get a loose leader, which he did by three-quarters of a length. Beach Nut Brand (Jeff Gregory), Rushmore Hanover and Stonebridge Diablo (Greg Grismore) grabbed the small change.

For Chick N Tell, a seven-year-old son of Glory B River trained by Linda Toscano for co-owners Stake Your Claim and 3 Brothers Stables, he returned $7.30 (second choice) for his fifth win in 15 seasonal starts. The exacta paid $56, with the triple returning $253.

By the way, Armbro Barrister put up his Westchester aged horse record exactly 51 weeks ago (last May 30).

Friday night's co-featured $44,000 Filly and Mare Open Handicap Pace saw the 2008 Lady Maud winner, Happy Dreamer (Bartlett), prevail from the pocket.

Leaving from post No. 3 and sitting behind Seaswift Princess (Manzi) through weigh stations of :27.3, :57. and 1:25.3, Happy Dreamer was directed to the passing lane just in time.

Outside entities Ubetterthink Think (Bouchard) and Ramona Disomma (Grismore)--the latter a consolation winner of the Blue Chip Matchmaker here earlier in the month--were storming home from fourth- and third-over, respectively.

Happy Dreamer, the 5-2 favourite, prevailed by a half-length in 1:54.3, with "Ubetter," "Ramona," Twin B Tiara (Jim Pantaleano) and Ridge Jumper (Pat Lachance) completing the cashers.

For Happy Dreamer, a four-year-old daughter of McArdle owned by Lomangino Standardbreds and trained by Greg Peck, she returned $7.40 for her first win in a couple of seasonal starts. The exacta paid $70.50, with the triple returning $528.
