Horse Racing New Brunswick will be allowed to return to its offices at the Fredericton Exhibition grounds and continue operations.

According to an article by the CBC, Horse Racing New Brunswick was granted an injunction on Friday (May 20) that will allow it to return to its premises on the exhibition grounds and continue to operate the Winners Lounge, which includes 25 video lottery terminals.

The article goes on to state that while granting the injunction, Justice Paulette Garnett also ordered that HRNB will have access to its facilities no later than 4 p.m. Friday. The article also states that the injunction will expire at midnight on May 30. Horse Racing New Brunswick has the ability to apply for an extension if it does not reach an agreement with Fredericton Exhibition Ltd. by that time.

The situation started in the wee hours earlier this week when Fredericton Exhibition Ltd. locked HRNB out, citing multiple breaches of the lease.

Horse Racing New Brunswick had responded to the situation earlier this week, and the New Brunswick Standardbred Breeders and Owners Association announced on Thursday, May 19 that it was backing HRNB in the dispute.
