Windmeredontmatter Repeats In N.S.

An outside post didn't matter to Windmeredontmatter ($4.10), who vaulted off live second-over cover en route to a 2:01.1 win — his second straight — in Sunday's $1,400 featured pace at Northside Downs.

The four-year-old son of Articulator got away at the tail of the six-horse field and sat patiently behind a :29 first quarter from Burn Em Up Burr (Gerard Kennedy). Shortly thereafter, Redmond Doucet angled Windmeredontmatter second-over behind Blue Lane (Randy Getto), who brushed aggressively from fifth into a narrow advantage through a :59.4 half mile.

Well within striking range as Blue Line and Burn Em Up Burr duelled through a :30.2 third split, Doucet and Windmeredontmatter pounced on the last turn, striking the front at the eighth pole and edging away to win by a length. Keep A Secret (Roddy Hurley) rallied off third-over cover to take second, and Blue Line held third despite being overpowered late.
