A set of Preferreds went postward Thursday evening at Flamboro Downs, with Intimidate taking home top honours in the richer of the two events.

Intimidate got away sixth for Doug Brown, who watched Savthelstdancforme shoot to the front and steal easy fractions of :29.3, 1:01.3 and 1:29.4 in the $11,000 Preferred 2. Kennel Buddy came first-over going to the half, and he was just a neck away from the leader as the field headed into the final quarter. Intimidate brushed home in :28.4 and got up to win by a neck over Kennel Buddy in 1:58.4. Savthelstdancforme was third.

Luc Blais trains the eight-year-old son of Justice Hall-Fabulous Tag for the Quebec partnership of Determination of Montreal and Judith Farrow of Hemmingford. The classy gelding is now a 29-time winner with purse earnings in excess of $1.4 million.

One race earlier it was Willyorwonthe turning a two-hole trip into a neck decision in the $7,500 Preferred 3. Bob McClure stalked Spartan Victory through first-half panels of :28.2 and :59.3 before applying first-over pressure on that one at the three-quarter pole in 1:29.1. A :29-second closing quarter was enough to earn Willyorwonthe the win in 1:58.1 over race favourite Azucar. Spartan Victory faded to finish third.

Bill Megens of Puslinch, Ont. bred, owns and trains the four-year-old son of Angus Hall-Mikestory. The gelding won for the fourth time this season and for the ninth time in his career. He pushed his lifetime earnings over $100,000 with the win.
