New York Can Resume Racing June 1

In his daily press conference from Albany, N.Y. on Saturday (May 16), New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that horse racing tracks will be allowed to open on June 1 with no fans.

He also announced that, “We will be issuing guidance on how they can open safely in the coming week.”

Harness racing tracks listed in the presentation included Batavia Downs, Buffalo Raceway, Monticello Raceway, Saratoga Raceway, Tioga Downs, Vernon Downs and Yonkers Raceway. On the thoroughbred side, Aqueduct Racetrack, Belmont Park, Finger Lakes Racetrack and Saratoga Race Course were also listed as being able to resume racing on June 1.
