Darlins Delight, a career winner in excess of $2.8 million, survived a first-over trip en route to drawing away from the competition in Wednesday’s $32,500 Mares Open

Handicap at Harrah’s Chester Racetrack.

With Yannick Gingras at the lines, the six-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight – Town Pro tucked into an early four-hole before launching a first over attack on the way to the half. Darlins Delight drew to within a length of pacesetter A And Gs Confusion at the three-quarter pole after that Breeders Crown winner had throw down panels of :27.2, :55.4 and 1:23.3.

A :27.3 final frame was more than enough for Darlins Delight to seal the deal in 1:51.2. Sent off as the 1-5 favourite, she drew off to win by a little more than a length over A And Gs Confusion, who finished the mile with broken equipment. Third prize went to Sportsfancy.

Jeff Stafford conditions the White Birch Farms’ homebred, who now boasts a 3-2-1 record in her first eight starts of the season. She is now 30-for-66 in her career.
