Saturday night was Ladies’ Night at Hanover Raceway and there was plenty happening on and off the track.
Mothers in attendance were eligible to win prizes thanks to sponsors The Flower Shoppe & Greenhouses, My Scissors & I, La Dolce Vita Spa, and Mary Kay Cosmetics.
On the track, driver J Harris headlined with three victories during the 10-race card. Among his wins, he took Stars Xample from gate-to-wire in the third race in 1:58 off fractions of :29, :58 and 1:27.3. He also scored victories with Pocketfulasunshine and Redline Hanover in the seventh and 10th races, respectively. The three victories were good enough for nine points in Hanover Raceway’s Pick 3 Fantasy Harness Racing Contest that kicked off on Saturday night. Sponsored in part by the I Love Canadian Harness Racing Fan Club, Pick 3 Fantasy Harness Racing will continue every Saturday night through June 9. Contest standings will be available on the Hanover Raceway Facebook page.
Another highlight of the evening was Marielle Enberg and Amoreena qualifying in a trotting under saddle race. The duo defeated three foes in a special qualifier held between races four and five on the live card. Amoreena led from start to finish, staying flat to qualify in 2:04.4. The under saddle qualifier was in preparation for an upcoming stakes event at the Meadowlands Racetrack in New Jersey and was a special treat for Hanover’s racing fans.
Hanover Raceway returns with Hockeyville Night at the races next Saturday night at 7:15 p.m. Children under 13 that show up to the races wearing a hockey jersey will be eligible to win up to five bicycles, courtesy of Hanover Raceway and Hanover Canadian Tire.
