Driver Doug McNair enjoyed a four-win performance at Western Fair Raceway on Monday, and part of his Grand Slam came in the $15,200 Fillies & Mares Preferred with the Chris Haskell-trained Headpoles R Us

.

The five-year-old daughter of Bo Knows Jate parked past the quarter pole in :27.4 before securing the lead, and once she got there it was game over for everyone else. She was pressed to the mid-way point in :57.3 before stepping away from her foes at the three-quarter pole in 1:26.3.

A :29.4 final frame was more than enough for Headpoles R Us to score by more than two lengths over Shami Cami. Just Her Way rounded out the top three.

It was the eighth win of the season in just 10 starts for the mare, who was claimed for $7,500 earlier this year by owner Ron Haskell of Windsor, ON. The victory bumped her lifetime earnings to $101,231.

The $12,800 Preferred 2 wrapped up Monday’s 12-race program, and Donegal Gerald was a driving away winner for the duo of trainer Dave Matson and driver Tony Kerwood.

The five-year-old son of Rambaran came first-over and drew off to win in a time of 1:55. Along Came Polly was second and Governor Killean grabbed the show dough.

John Foran of Newmarket, ON holds the papers on the gelding, who is 4-for-13 this season. The 18-time winner has banked $166,855 to date.
