Pocket-rider Big Lis slid through the open stretch at Flamboro Downs to win the $8,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace in 1:57.1 on Saturday, April 7.

Drivingthedragon N dictated the pace, leading through a :28.3 opening quarter before receiving minor first-over pressure from On The Minute Mark passing the half, timed in :58.2. Big Lis remained cooped at the rail as Drivingthedragon N maintained a length-and-a-half lead at three-quarters in 1:27.

Into the stretch, driver Colin Kelly veered the five-year-old Big Jim mare inside of Drivingthedragon N, shooting to a three-quarter length victory. Tilikum, the 7-5 favourite, rode the rail to finish third.

Winning her second race in 14 starts this season and her 12th in 48 overall, Big Lis, trained by Craig Gilmour for owner Steve Mihalic, has compiled $72,935 in earnings. She returned $5.40 to win.
