Tight Lines Opens Yonkers Series

Tight Lines ($2.40) kicked off the Yonkers Raceway/SOA of NY Bonus Trotting Series with a dominant wire-to-wire win for trainer/driver Jeff Gregory on Tuesday night (April 4).

The four-year-old the gelded son of Yankee Glide maintained a two-length advantage over his rivals through fractions of :29, :59.1 and 1:28 before extending his lead to more than three lengths with a :28.3 final frame over the 'good' track. His winning time of 1:56.3 was the fastest of six $25,000 series divisions on the night. Majestic Mistress overtook Backstage Pass to finish second.

Gregory shares ownership of Tight Lines with the Jesmeral Stable and William Richardson.

Owned in part by Ontario's Mac Nichol, the Kadabra mare Windsong Magic ($9.60) earned her first U.S. victory in the series, scoring in 1:57.2 with Jason Bartlett driving for trainer G Buzzy Sholty.

Following a six-pack of wins on Monday, Bartlett enjoyed a series double amidst a four-win night by driving Thomas Milici's Madhatter Bluechip ($3.20) to a 1:58.3 victory in the following division.

"Mr. 1,000," trainer Scott DiDomenico sent out a pair of series winners as Triumphants Chip (Dan Dube, $4.20) won his split in 1:57.4 and Angus Hall expat Pridecrest (David Miller, $5.10) scored in 1:59.1.

The other division was won by Majestic Son gelding Golden Son ($4.30) in 1:57.3 with John Campbell in the bike for trainer Jenny Melander.

The series is for horses who were non-winners of six races or $100,000 through February 1, 2017.
