More Slots For Fraser Downs?

It has been reported that Fraser Downs in B.C. could soon be home to an additional number of slot machines.

The news comes courtesy of an article by The Surrey Leader. The report states that the British Columbia Lottery Corp. recently announced that it will be pulling the plug on 150 slot machines which are currently in operation at the Newton Country Bingo Hall.

Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Ltd. holds the licence to operate the machines and is now looking for a location to operate the machines. The article has cited Surrey Mayor Dianne Watts as saying that the only place she’d consider adding the slots right now would be to Fraser Downs.

“[Fraser Downs] is still under-utilized, and it’s still under-built,” Mayor Watts was quoted as saying. “If there’s any opportunity in the city, that would be an opportunity that would be reviewed.”

The report has quoted Gateway spokesperson Tanya Gabara as saying, “Obviously now we have to re-evaluate what we’re going to do moving forward.”
