Craig Gilmour trainee Sr Beach Babe, sent the odds-on favourite, endured a first-over trip and edged past tempo-setter Drivingthedragon N to win the $8,500 Fillies and Mares Preferred 3 Pace at Flamboro Downs on Saturday, April 28 in 1:57.

Sr Beach Babe sat fifth through a :28.2 quarter prior to tipping off the rail approaching the half. The favourite drew within one-and-one-half lengths of leader Drivingthedragon N at the half, timed in :58.4, and remained parked at her side circling the turn and passing three-quarters, timed in 1:27.2.

Stalled around the final turn, Sr Beach Babe reengaged the leader into the stretch, slowly moving by heading to the line and eventually pulled a half length in front of Drivingthedragon N, who held second from pocket-sitter and third-place finisher Skyfall Sena.

A five-year-old mare by Oaks Enforcer, out of the Jennas Beach Boy mare Sand On The Beach, Sr Beach Babe competes for owner Steve Mihalic. J. Bradley Harris was in the bike for Sr Beach Babe's fourth win in 14 starts this season, and her 18th in 98 starts overall. She paid $3.40 to win.
