On Wednesday, April 23, Nova Scotia Agriculture Minister Keith Colwell announced the final member of the interim board that will oversee the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition for the time being.

Minister Colwell had previously announced that former NSPE Commission chairman Bruce Kennedy and former vice-chairman Cameron MacEachen had been named to the interim panel.

According to a report by the Truro Daily News, Colwell announced Wednesday that Halifax business executive Gary Muise will be the final member of the interim board.

The article goes on to state that the interim panel will be official once amended legislation – which was announced today – is passed. The amended legislation is intended to give Colwell the power to appoint members to the NSPE Board.

The report has also cited Colwell as saying that a permanent General Manager position for the NSPE will be posted in the near future.

“These moves will ensure the Nova Scotia Provincial Exhibition Commission is self-supporting, has long-term stability and is able to help grow the Nova Scotia economy,” Colwell was posted as saying.
