Five-year-old pacing mare Put On A Show surpassed the $2 million mark in career earnings in the $42,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace on Friday night at Woodbine Racetrack

.

Put On A Show was just over $1,000 away from the earnings milestone entering the race and soared into the double millionaire's club by nailing British import Laneside Lexus at the wire in 1:51.3. Driver Jody Jamieson drove the Rocknroll Hanover-Stienams Place mare for trainer Chris Ryder and owners Craig Henderson, Richard and Joanne Young.

Voelz Hanover (Mario Baillargeon) fired to command during a :27-second opening quarter and led the field, which was scratched down from nine to seven starters, to the half in :56. Laneside Lexus (Billy Davis Jr.) was the first to move down the backside from third with favourite Put On A Show and the season-debuting, O'Brien Award winning Monkey On My Wheel (Randy Waples) following her cover. She moved up alongside the leader as they passed by three-quarters in 1:24.3 and took over down the stretch with Put On A Show rallying late, in :26.1, to score by a nose. Voelz Hanover finished three lengths behind in third over Monkey On My Wheel.

The win was Put On A Show's second (consecutive) from five starts against Open mares and 21st lifetime. After becoming the richest filly pacer at two and three, she missed her four-year-old year due to knee surgery. Put On A Show returned to the track in the Overbid Series at the Meadowlands Racetrack in March and finished second to reigning Older Pacing Mare of the Year Anndrovette in the final. Her earnings now stand at $2,019,963.

Put On A Show returned $2.70 to her backers.
