Alfie Carroll hustled Meadowview Vicky to the lead right from the word “Go” in Tuesday’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for trotters at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and the mare didn’t look back en route to posting a narrow score.
Meadowview Vicky darted to the top from Post 3 and was on the hook for fractions of :29.3, 1:00.4 and 1:30. She dug in for a :30.1 closing quarter, and that was just enough to earn her the nose decision over Winzel in 2:00.1. Rounding out the Triactor ticket was Me The Boss.
Sent off as the 1-2 favourite in the seven-horse affair, the five-year-old daughter of Muscle Mass-Meadowview Tiffy improved this year’s record to 5-1-2 from 12 starts with the win. The 12-time winner, who hangs her harness bag in the barn of trainer Mark Etsell, has banked close to $125,000 to date for owner/breeder Meadowview Farms Inc of Orono, Ont.
