Adore Him Wires Up Preferred Foes

After a near miss in last week’s $7,500 Preferred 3 for horse and gelding pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District, Adore Him returned to the London, Ont. oval and held on for a narrow score in Monday’s $11,000 Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap.

Adore Him shot to the lead from Post 3 for driver Paul MacKenzie, and together they never looked back through fractions of :28.1, :57.4 and 1:26. A :29.1 closing quarter was enough to earn Adore Him the neck decision over Arrived Late in 1:55.1. Third prize went to Jackstan.

The even-money favourite, who is owned and trained by Curt Blake of Clinton, Ont, is a five-year-old son of Shadow Play-Respectednbeloved. The gelding lit the lamp for the first time in four starts this season. The 16-time winner pushed his career earnings over $90,000 with the win.
