Driver Andy Miller was injured in a Yonkers Raceway accident Tuesday night.

Miller, driving Marmara Denizi -- a three-year-old gelding co-owned and trained by his brother, Erv -- was in the back of the field and unseated during the $10,000, first race pace.

Also unseated was George Brennan, who was driving 13-10 favourite In The Clear.

In The Clear was a tight-pocket second down the backside the second time when looked to slip out and appeared to step on the wheel of a first-up Fiftyshadesofhay (Dan Dube). In The Clear went down, as did Brennan, who did get up and resume his assignments for the evening.

Miller, who did not lose consciousness, was taken to Lawrence Hospital in nearby Bronxville, New York. According to Miller’s wife, Julie, as well as trainer Scott DiDomenico, Andy Miller broke a pair of lumbar vertebrae in his back. As of this writing, he is awaiting transfer from Lawrence Hospital (Bronxville, New York) to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in northern Manhattan for further evaluation and treatment. He has feeling in all his extremities, and is obviously in a lot of pain.

The race was won by Keystone Dalton (Jason Bartlett, $9.30) in a maiden-breaking 1:59.

Trot Insider will provide further updates on Miller's condition if available.
