Mohawk Racetrack hosted a 14-dash qualifying session on Thursday morning (April 13) and some notable horses nailed the wire first in their respective assignments.

In what was his second qualifying effort after a winter layoff, Preferred trotter Windsun Revenge recorded a gate-to-wire, 1:55.2 win for trainer Jeff Durham and driver Paul MacDonell In Race 1. The margin of victory for the Post 8 starter was five and a half lengths.

The Richard Moreau-trained and Sylvain Filion-driven Evenin Of Pleasure proved victorious in Race 2, as the Preferred pacer made the front near the half-mile pole and sprinted off to a 12-length victory in 1:52.4.

After a productive three-year-old campaign, the David Menary-trained and Jody Jamieson-driven Sintra made his seasonal charted debut in Race 3 and paced away to a wire-to-wire 1:52.3 victory. The post 7 starter won by more than 10 lengths.

Three-year-old Shadow Play filly Fade, who finished second in her Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final last fall, made her seasonal charted debut in Race 4. Driver Jonathan Drury moved the Casie Coleman trainee to the lead at top of the lane and went on to win by two lengths in 1:56.3.

Labero, who was a $130,000 yearling purchase in 2015, made his three-year-old debut for new connections in Race 8. The Randy Van Meer-trained and Sylvain Filion-driven gelding took a front-end trip from Post 7 and trotted to a two and a half-length win in 2:00.

AWOL Hanover, the Determination stable’s $180,000 yearling buy in 2015, won his second consecutive qualifier in Race 9. The Luc Blais-trained and Sylvain Filion-driven Donato Hanover colt went wire to wire from Post 7 and won by three quarters of one length in 1:58.1. AWOL Hanover is out of the same mare that produced $569,000 winner Spicy Wings.

In Race 12, a $2,000 yearling purchase that has gone on to earn $414,000 thus far returned from a layoff and hit the wire in first asking. The Tony O’Sullivan-trained and Paul MacDonell-driven Youre Majestic trotted the victorious mile in 1:59.1 and was one and three-quarter-lengths the best.
