The last time race fans saw Easy Lover Hanover, the Somebeachsomewhere gelding was toughing out a victory in the $314,600 Hap Hansen Progress Pace. Now trainer Ben Wallace has said that the hard-knocking bay will soon be reemerging at his old stomping grounds.

While in discussion with The Hamilton Spectator, Wallace said that the winner of 16 of 33 races "will qualify in just under three weeks despite it being a difficult spring with the weather but [Easy Lover Hanover is] still on schedule."

The veteran horseman will be pointing the Brad Grant-owned gelding to Canada’s prestigious early-season stakes event for four-year-old pacers.

"I hope to get at least a race into him before the Confederation Cup at Flamboro Downs (eliminations on May 14, final on May 21),” Wallace said.

“Ideally, I wish it was a month later because it is a tough go for him right out of the blocks and then five days later the Western Fair in London has the Molson Pace. But that's the state of affairs, and I do like the way he has come back. So we'll just hope for the best."
