The hottest thing going in the Greater Toronto Area - next to Toronto Maple Leafs playoff tickets – is trotter Odds On Amethyst, who pushed his winning streak to five-in-a-row thanks to his Monday evening triumph in the $34,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Racetrack.

In rein to trainer/driver Pat Hudon – a well-known Leafs worshipper - Odds On Amethyst blasted to the lead in the backstretch and cruised to a comfortable score in 1:53.3.

Odds On Amethyst got away third in the five-horse affair while April Rose hustled her way to the front and threw down first-half fractions of :28 and :57.1. Hudon had his charge out and rolling on the way to the half, and they cleared to the lead before the final turn and never looked back. They hit the three-quarter pole in 1:24.3 and finished off the competition with a closing panel of :29. The margin of victory was 1-1/4 lengths over Finish Line and Catch The Dream.

Sent off as the 3-5 favourite, the six-year-old son of Muscle Hill-Mystical Sunshine notched his sixth win of the season and his 21st to date. The career winner of $344,562 is owned by Hudon and partners Bill Cripps, Charles Gazzola and Adam Kean.
