Another Win For Waiting On A Woman

Waiting On A Woman led from his first step off the gate to his widening last strides through the wire in winning his fourth straight Open 1 Trot at Pompano Park on Wednesday night

He prevailed over Lugar (Bruce Ranger) and Ill Tell You What (Dave Ingraham). Last week’s winner, Pure Barre (Kevin Wallis), was fourth with Shes All In (Luke Plano) next and picking up the remaining marble.

The five-year-old son of Northern Bailey was waiting for no one (much less a woman) on this night, clocking fractions of :28, :57 and 1:25.1 before stepping away to a win measuring three and a quarter lengths in 1:54.3 on a coolish night—62 degrees—in South Florida.

The win was his seventh in eight starts this year, his record only blemished by broken equipment in a late January start forcing him to pull up.

Trainer Travis Kolaczynski was once again ecstatic with the trotter’s performance saying, “He was off a week with only a 2:12 training mile under his belt a few days ago so I was extremely pleased with his mile. Wally [Hennessey] does such a great job with him on the racetrack. This is the best horse I have ever trained and it’s very exciting to see him go to the gate and compete against these horses, which are a very tough group.”

Hennessey, in turn, gave credit to the trainer and trotter saying, “Travis takes great care of this horse and he responds. Some horses you have to keep alive—or try to—the whole way but this one does it all by himself. He’s just got a great attitude and willing to go on the whole distance.”

Owned by New Jennaration of North Palm Beach, Florida, Waiting On A Woman now has 28 wins in 51 lifetime starts, good for $110,870.
