Driver, Off Eight Years, Wins Open

Does an eight-year absence from the sulky lead to a little rust? Apparently not.

Driver Richard ‘Ricky’ Still has picked up where he left off eight years ago. Still was one of Rosecroft Raceway's up and coming drivers when he essentially took time off from the sport as the track closed down for a significant period of time.

He has come back with the same skills and talents he showed in days gone by. He guided KG Rocks to a 1:51.3 score in Rosecroft’s $10,000 Mares Open on Tuesday, March 28 for owner-trainer Heidi Van Vliet.

Breadcrumb Income set out for the lead for Brian Burton and secured the top spot in :26.1. Still, who started from Post 8, tucked in fourth and eventually saw Westsluckycam take to the outside after the quick opening fraction. Still drafted behind the first-over challenger before he decided to fan three-wide at the top of the lane. He went on to win a three-horse photo. Breadcrumb Income held for second and the four-wide Quotable Quotes just missed finishing third for Jason Green.

Burton and Timmy Offut posted driving doubles.

Live racing at Rosecroft will continue Wednesday night at 6:40 p.m.
